Child sexual abuse can happen in a million different ways. Sometimes it happens within the child's home or family, at other times it is opportunistic. For a quick second a vulnerable child is unprotected, and a perpetrator sees this and abuses the child. At other times the perpetrator can set up the structure of their life to facilitate being able to have access to victims. It will influence where they live, work and who they spend time with. They don't just groom the victim, they can also groom their family, colleagues, friends and community. This diagram shows an example of how perpetrators can gain access to victims.
